Losing strength while cutting

is it normal to lose strength when you cut your calories/dieting? I am only going to cut my calories by 500 a day. Would upping my carbs on weight training days help me keep strength? Is there any way around strength loss?

Small strength losses may occur during cuting phases. if you up your carbs then then you have to adjust total cal intake. I think the important thing while cutting is you maintain muscle mass.

having some carbs before your workout(ie banana) can help keep strength up, but if you are on a low carb diet (less than 20g a day) then you should have a high carb day once a week to replace the glycogen stores in the liver and muscles, glycogen is the fuel sorce that is called opon during strenious exercise.
