Australian Cottage Cheese Sux?

Hello,

I have been eating cottage cheese every night before bed for a couple of weeks now but am wondering if i am eating the right stuff.

All the supermarkets i go to only have coles homebrand low fat cottage cheese and weight watchers low fat cottage cheese. Australia doesnt seem to stock no fat cottage cheese.

Looking at the label of the homebrand cottage, the one i am eating, it has for 250 grams:

226.67 calories
6.2 fat, 4 of which is saturated and 0.2 is trans.
9.6 carbs, 9.2 of which are sugars.
32 protein

also has 950mg sodium.

Is that too much fat, sugar and salt before bed for a weightloss diet?

I am still losing weight each week though.

If not, anyone know a better australian cottage cheese and where to buy it from?

That's pretty much it. I think there is another brand but it's pretty similar. I don't think there is a huge market for cottage cheese in Australia hence the lack of choice unlike cheeses like ceddar, tasty etc, there is a huge variety.

Thanks Shrek.

Too bad oz doesnt sell no fat cottage like the americans.

Oh well, maybe all that saturated fat will increase testosterone levels:p

Cheers

Cottage cheese is shit. I used to have a 350g tub every day of low fat. It was cheap though, $1.50 for 30+g of protein. Meat's cheaper here so I'm eating more of that now instead of the filth that is cottage cheese.

You're also forgetting the high amount of salt it has.

I disagree.

Dairy protein has a higher bioavailibilty than beef and also lasts up to 7 hours which is perfect for keeping your body out of a catabolic state during 8 hours of sleep. It is the perfect bed time protein.

Nothing wrong with salt either, unless you are cutting for a competition. A little extra water weight wont kill you.

Yeah, milk is pretty much the same as cottage cheese.

Its both casein protein.

I'm not sure if it get transformed.

I guess it becomes a protein blend.

It would have fast and slow protein, similar to other night time protein shakes on the market which are just a mix of whey, casein and sometimes soy.
