Hydration is very important in cycling and the lack of water in your system can cause harm to the body. . Here are some tips to safely drink from your water bottle
1. Make sure you are not about to cross a road intersection. Many cycling accidents occur in intersections.
2. While keeping your eyes on the road, use your left hand to grab the bottle from the bottle cage. This might be difficult at first since you cannot look down to grab the bottle, but regular practice can make it very natural. Remember to keep your eyes on the road; accidents can happen any minute.
3. Keep your right hand to the handlebar in case you need to use the brakes. Use the rear brake to slow down your bike in case you need to. The front brake should only be used in case your really need to stop because you can be thrown off the bike.
4. Pull the nipple of the bottle using your teeth.
5. Twist your your head in a clockwise direction and press the bottle to squeeze out the water. Do not drink up since you cannot see the road in this position.
6. Push the nipple back with your teeth.
7. Return the bottle while maintaining your eyes on the road. Constant practice makes this easier.
