I was told resistance bands are good to keep up training when you can't train(does that make sense).
It seems like there is two kinds of resistance bands a single band kind, and the ones with the stirrup-like ends
what is best??

They're no replacement for freeweights, but if you're desperate they are better than nothing.

I've used them when I've been travelling for work and had no gym. Take them and a skipping rope. I tend to use the single band kind or just the long strip of band and tie it if I need to.

You can also do bodyweight and/or plyometric workouts. Some of the women's muscle/fitness magazines have examples of these workouts.
