Hi guys, Just wondering how much protein do i need to consume for maximum muscle gains? What i mean is how much protein should i be consuming each day? At the moment i weight approx 85kg's. I currently take protein supplements (protein shake).

Cheers

Well that depends who you believe really! I'm not a nutritionist, I only know what works for me. Personally, I think this article is about right..

They recommend around 1.6-1.7grams of protein per kg of bodyweight for strength athletes. Unless your nutritionist or doctor recommends more or less, I think that’s a safe number.. It’s in between the two extreme opinions out there.. Oh and don’t forget good quality, healthy carbs either! You’re muscles won’t grow if you don’t feed them the energy they need!! ;o)

Thanks for that mate. I have some Max's Daytime Protein which i take after my workout but i am buying some Max's Muscle Builder SRT to take in the mornings with my breakfast. Both of these are fairly high in Carbs.

Oh well, as long as you have a well balanced diet on top of your protein supplement i can't imagine protein being an issue!!

yeah, first thing in the morning and after a workout is a good time to take that sorta stuff. If you’re trying to put on muscle, then Milk or cheese before you go to bed is good too. The casein protein in cheese and milk (obviously milk has some whey in it too) is slow absorbing, which is what you want when you’re asleep and heeling..

Good luck with it all!
