i was checking out the survival thread , seeing what ppl take out with them , gps , mobile phones

being into gadgets , i was considering purchasing a set of uhf cb's , dick smiths sells a twin pack rather cheap

Would like to hear fro those that do have then and what models you use.
thanks in advance

depending where you ride , uhf really isn't a good median for survival
the uhf band is a line of sight thing , so depending on your surrounds , the uhf band could be next to useless , trees, hill , gullys/valleys, weather could mean that your signal doesn't get out

also not to mention the power output , those cheap models are usally 1/2 a watt , so to compensate you need a high gain antenna and or height (eg: stand on top of a hill , or climb a tree )
