1 cup lite milk (actually a bit more)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (30g)
50g oats
100g cottage cheese (roughly)
Ice (hand full)

Cals: 488
P/C/F: 40/40/20

Drop the ice cream - it's unneeded and is pushing the (simple) carb component way too high for a protein shake IMHO. Replace it with ice (it thickens and cools the shake). Use cottage cheese instead of yoghurt (less sugar, more protein). Surprisingly enough I can hardly taste the cottage cheese, and I have a heap of it in there.

Honey Vanilla with Cinnamon Shake

Ingredient List for this Recipe:

1 cup skimmed milk
1 tbsp fat free, sugar free vanilla pudding mix
1 tbsp honey
a little vanilla essence
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
ice cubes
Further Information for this Homemade Protein Shake:

This recipe uses a slightly different method for flavoring the shake. A tablespoon of vanilla flavored pudding mix is added. Of course, there are a number of different pudding mixes you can buy at your supermarket so why not try different flavors to create a multitude of protein shake recipes. You can try everything from chocolate to strawberry and so on. You can mix two different flavors together for a great 'cocktail' - try chocolate and banana!

The recipe also includes a couple of extra 'flavor enhancers' in the form of vanilla essence (or vanilla extract) and also cinnamon. You could also play around with these trying different flavoring like coconut essence or one I recommend is a mint flavoring. This really does give your shake a more unique flavor. Of course you can also change your flavor of whey protein supplements as well.

SHAKE TIP: You may need to add a little more liquids if you feel the shake is too thick.

Any Suggestions for a non lactose shake, Most likely using rice milk?
Also place to buy non lactose protein powder..
I'm not overly keen on Soy based on the estrogen thing..
That said im just reading an interesting article about Soy Just now..

Yeah, use rice milk and eggs. :)

Cheers.

P.S - there is always Liddels - Lactose Free Milk.

Have you tried WPI or Lactose free milk?

Other than that, soy is an excellent protein source that gets unfairly bashed and blown out of proportion by the 'bro-scientists'. If you're worried, just don't take more than two servings of SPI or SPC but there's no reason to be as soy is perfectly fine.

In terms of the powder tho -

Go Soy Based?

As whey is fairly high in lactose eh?

Is this for a PWO shake? If it is you can try having a BCAAs shake with fast acting carbs. Most people drink a shake PWO to a) restore muscle glycogen and b) trigger protein synthesis.

In regards to b) its the amino acid leucine that's in the shake that causes protein synthesis - the muscle growth - to occur. So instead of taking the shake to get the leucine, just take straight leucine from BCAAs. And you can get a) from eating some fast acting carbs.

Soy.

But I'd try out WPI first though. Go around to all the bulk protein sites and ask for a sample - there's like 4 or 5. Then try it out for a week and see how you feel.

I'm lactose intolerant and go for Soy or WPI.

Used to be a bit funny about soy, but half the world says its the best thing ever created, the other half says its evil. All I care about is that it makes my life heaps easier and its not just sugar water like rice milk.
