Young Athlete Deaths

I see a MMA fighter just died from heart attack at 30. As much as people on bodybuilding forums like to say its not a risk there seems to be a massive over representation of people dying very young in sports at risk of steroid abuse.

I think the problem is manifold.
Added adipose tissue along with added muscle also places a great strain on the heart.

a former mate had a severely enlarged heart from his bb lifestyle too. His pulse used to go through the roof just walking up stairs and needed 8000 calories per day to put on weight. he got ripped on 4000+ calories per day.

Grossly excessive weight + steroids + diuretics + HGH + cortizone abuse + yo-yo dieting = dead mofo.

jesse marunde died from steroid use..

and if jenkins death was unrelated there is plenty of other examples to gives cause for concern imo..

WWE wrestlers and bodybuilders have been dropping like flies.

Soooo many of the bb'ers are from liver & kidney problems though IMO thats mostly related to diuretic use. You gotta wonder if the heart disease is from the drugs or the diet???

Shit though 30 odd years old is so young to die from anything but an accidental death.

Not casting any aspersions against this fellow, could have been anything as far as we know, a tragedy to go in the prime of your life though

Really?

This was big news when it happened, and it was discussed a lot, it was then led to believe it was from an aneurysm.

do you have a link to your comment please?; "jesse marunde died from steroid use"

"On July 25, 2007 Marunde died following a workout in Sequim, Washington.[5] The cause of his death was a genetic heart defect, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes.[6]"

Now it says genetic, but a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is caused by a thickening of the hearts muscles, oftern the left ventricle. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now it is classed as a gentic thing so i is not investigated further (afaik), so there is no direct link to steroids. But who do we know that causes thickening of the left ventricle?

Smoking gun imo

The WWE wrestlers usage of painkillers and their long days/weeks and years on the road leading to burnout (stress) and not much sleep, never get the blame though. They (the media) always blame the gear.

Pretty much, seems like an extraordinary number of strength athletes outside tested sports like O lifting develop these genetic hole in the heart or thickening of the heart.

Hey Brick, there were 3 real hotties at the gym last night.

Bit off-topic, I know. But they were hot.

Yeh the amount of 300+lb atheltes who have smashed the gear at a pro level for years on end, all dropping dead of "genetic" hypotrophic cardiomyopathu. Some coincidenxe that people chose to ignore
