Super groups

These seem to be a thing of the past.

name some past and name some current you consider as "super groups"
 
Yeah U2 came to my mind first. Huge fan.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers I'd consider a 'super group'.
 
The typical supergroup is one that is formed by famous/exceptional musicians from different bands (or solo)

Something like Traveling Wilburys or Temple of the Dog or Highwaymen as brick noted

I'm sure [MENTION=8564]Semillon[/MENTION]; will agree that some of the best ever 'supergroups' include Liquid Tension Experiment, Ayreon, Avantasia etc

U2, Metallica etc...are not supergroups...
