THE licence of a doctor who was arrested in a swoop related to performance-enhancing drugs has been suspended. Authorities have stripped Hoong Pan Sze-Tho of his licence to practise medicine as Victoria Police investigate his involvement with controversial anti-ageing clinic owner Robin Taylor.
The Herald Sun this week revealed Dr Sze-Tho almost lost his licence once before, for having sex with a teenage drug addict and paying her.
The general practitioner had continued to see patients at a medical clinic in Moonee Ponds after his arrest outside the Melbourne Sports Medicine and Anti-Aging clinic this month.
This week the Medical Board of Australia immediately suspended his licence on the grounds it deemed there was an immediate threat to the public.
Board spokesman Nicole Newton, said while it could not comment on individual cases "the board has the power to take action to protect the public if there is an immediate risk".
Professional standards command arrested two officers from the Special Operations Group in raids on 10 properties on October 8.
Bags of suspected synthetic steroids, human growth hormones and two pill presses were seized from the Moonee Ponds sports medicine clinic.
Dr Sze-Tho and clinic owner Robin Taylor were interviewed and released pending summons.
The professional standards command investigation continues.
In 2000 the medical practitioners' board found Dr Sze-Tho displayed a "moral myopia" in his relationship with the 16-year-old heroin abuser.
But the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal reinstated his licence, saying that while he displayed poor judgment in his personal life it was relatively removed from his fitness to practice medicine.
