AN Australia Post semi-trailer loaded with packages and parcels has been damaged by fire near Mackay overnight. About 12.40am Wednesday, the 50-year-old driver from Kawana was travelling along the Bruce Highway in Carmila, south of Sarina, when he was alerted to the blaze by another driver.
He pulled over and the rural fire brigade extinguished the trailer fire, which police say was caused by a mechanical fault.
A police spokesman said the trailer was loaded with packages and parcels and was completely destroyed in the blaze.
No one was hurt and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
