10/10 german cheesecake

Käsekuchen - German Cheesecake | DianasDesserts.com

I leave it in the oven for around 1hr 30 mins. Then refrigerate overnight.
I used 9 parts ricotta cheese 1 part sour cream for a substitute for quark. Tastes just like how it was in Germany.

10/10 for taste. So good.

Oh I love kaesekucken!!! What a great recipe!

All you need are some blueberries or maybe sour cherries and grated chocolate. Transported to Germany....

Alpha, you can get some really good quark here now.
I always get Elgaar Farms Organic quark. It's beautiful.

thanks for sharing :)

where do you buy the quark? i don't see any in coles or woolworths :(

I bet it's expensive too.
Used to pay 70 cents for 500g in Germany.

LOL no, not in Coles or Woolies, that's for sure!
I get it at my local organic shop although I've seen a few brands sold in delis and markets and organic shops.

It won't be as cheap as it is in Germany, of course. Although, how long ago was that price???? wow, I bet it's not that cheap there now either!

If I want to get all emotional and start sobbing over how much I miss being in Munchen, all I need to do is grab some quark and blueberries and I'm blubbering away...used to be my dessert every night when I lived there.

ohhhh and the apfelschnecken from the backerei ... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Anyone know calories and nutritional breakdown for this? I love cheescakes... but I've to know how much I can eat every night...

zomg, almost worth heading over there and bringing some back if I wouldn't get stuck in customs for 6 months :p

no, I'm not Deutsche, but I might as well be haha ... I have been known to sing the German national anthem in german at 4am while watching the boys in the World Cup :D:D
and cry when they lost. Like on the weekend when my team, Bayern, lost to Chelsea (my other team). Tears, tears, oh the tears.

Bist du Deutsch??

Ich spreche Deutsches, aber nur wenig :)
Enough to get by and to translate obscure scientific papers :)
I spent some time at the Max-Planck outside Munich while I was doing my phd. Fabulous time. Kept going back after that. Love it there.
helps that everything in my dad's town in Italy is written in Italian and German (on the border with Austria).
