Hi, I am no stranger to knee injuries from Rugby League/Union days of my youth (am 50 now). I have had meniscus tears corrected via arthroscopic procedures on both knees.
But weirdly, about 2 weeks ago, I felt a weird stiffness in right knee (my 'dodgy' knee) and pain in left (good) knee. Both have pain at the middle of the patella, particularly when rising from seated in bent leg position or sitting stationary in bent leg (normal seated) position.
Interestingly, not painful when doing Leg Press and Squats (my BAU routine).
No stupendous weight increases or a trauma to identify with the pain. I do Leg Press first, starting (after some bodyweight warm up and stretches), 4 working sets, 10-12 rep range, from 12 x 20KG up to 18 x 20KG plates. Then 3 sets squat, 80K x 10 using Olympic Bar (so effectively 100KG).
Ice knees post-workout, but should I rest knees, maybe do extensions/curls for a while, or go straight to medico?
