Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with golfers elbow from liftign weights? I have done a bit of internet research and im nearly 100% sure thats what i have.

I had a week off and have tried all the recommended stretches without any luck. Its a annoying one, cos i can still complete my daily workouts but the following morning and through the night my inner elbow is cramping up and has some savage pain.

any help would be great as i dont want to have any more time off unless its 100% fix.

I got golfers elbow last year from cricket....

took about 3 weeks to heal with three trips to the physio for some pretty heavy duty massage.

Ice and strapping for the first 2 weeks and stretching every hour or so got it good =)

Stick with the stretching and go see a good physio

depends what exercises your getting them from, skull crushers, Dumbbell Overhead Extensions etc anything mostly targeting triceps directly puts pressure on the elbow, just keep off them exercises for a few weeks and you will be ok

I have tried a few stretches and ice, but doesnt seem to help at all. I have a physio appt on Mon as i have developed a lump the size of half a golf ball on the inside of my elbow - both arms.

Hey mate golfers elbow is caused buy overuse, exactly the same as tennis elbow but on the inside not outside of the elbow joint. The tendons attachment to the medial epicondyle becomes inflamed and causes your pain. The wrist flexors are attached to this area so avoid heavily gripping until the pain subsides (may take up to 6 weeks). Best treatment is rest, regular icing and NSAIDS (anti inflammatory drugs). Eccentric exercises focusing on the wrist flexors have been shown to re strengthen the tendon, slow and boring but necessary if you want to avoid surgery down the track
