Hi Blokes,

First post, did a quick search, hope I'm not rehashign a dead horse here.
Had a good look around, just about decided on the following:

3 Package Deal _ Power Rack + FIBEV flat incline bench + Olympic bar + 80kg Olympic weights $1095

Which gives me:
  • MMPR power rack
  • BFIBEV Adjustable bench (Flat-Incline-Upright) bench,
  • 220cm brass bushing Olympic barbell, rated 700lbs, spring collars included
  • 80kg Rubber coated Olympic plate, steel core ring, ezy grip, 2x20kg, 2x10kg, 2x5kg, 2x2.5kg, 4x1.25kg
Firstly, does anyone have this rack or similar? Any feedback/experiences with this Rack/equipment or GymDirect.com.au (who i'm buying from).

There is NOTHING in Perth for anything near this price and features.

Now I'm wondering if I should get the Heavy Duty barbell for an extra $50?
This one is rated at 1500lb / ~600kg:
220cm Olympic Barbell (1500lbs)

Tempted to get the Heavy Duty, as I'd prefer to leave a single plate on each side ready for warmup on next workout.

Thanks for your time,
E.

I would get the heavy duty bar bell as well as an extra pair of 25kg plates as a minimum, as 80kg will not take you too far, at least with 130kg worth of plates you have a start.

A pair of dumb bell handles and may be a curl bar as well and you will be set for a long time.

If you have the cash get the plate storage tree well worth it.

Thats what I would be buying if I was starting over knowing what I know now.

The rack is top notch, I've had it for 18 months and never had a problem with it.

I agree you need more weights, 80kg worth of plates means you'll only be able to deadlift 100kg which you should be able to hit soon enough.

I bought from them as I also couldnt find anything in Perth to match their pricing.
Ive had mine for a couple of years now and its great, it will outlast me no worries!

Def get more weight, mine came with 117.5 kg which ends up being 137.5 with the bar, and its a good starting point. It doesnt cost much extra to freight them with the kit but will be a fair bit later on when buying them separately

@etastic:

Are you getting the dip attachment?

@DKD and eaglebay:

Did either of you guys get the dip attachament? If yes, was it worth getting?

Cheers,

Tuna.

I got it and it's one of the best moves I made. I looooooove dips!!

Checked my Gym Buddy app a while ago and saw that I've done dips more than any other exercise. The attachment itself works quite well. I'd say definitely get it.

I must have read all of the MMPR threads on this forum and I haven't read a complaint about it. I will be buying this or the commercial MM rack (see power rack package 7) when I move into the new place (an example of how confident I am in the quality).

Gym Direct is very well regarded and also a sponsor of the forum.

Dip Attachment

I will be getting the Dip Attachment fo sho.

I'd much prefer Dip Bars that form part of one of the side rails, ala THIS

But this rack is better overall than the one that pic goes with, can't be too choosy. And worst case If I can't stand it I'll knock up a jig to convert it.

For those interested, this is the dip attachment that goes with the MMPR:

Quick Update: Both the 1500lbs and the 600kg Thrust Babells are out of stock, so I've settled with the entry level 700lbs rated Barbell, as it means they can ship today. Otherwise it would be shipped 9/8/11, and I'm motivated NOW, and my lifts arn't that high right now.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but NEVER leave weights on the bar unless you want to turn a straight bar into a cambered bar
