My region shepparton as you may or may not have seen just lost one of this major emlpoyer spc ardmona mooroopna plant employing 150 permannts and 3 times that as seasonal workers duing the year , as well the heinz plant closing down which employer 100+ people
now i pick up the local rag this morning and see this headline
"country's worst off" with 18% unemployed sheppartons population sitting at around 35k and the greater region pushing the 60k mark
that was figures from the end of the financial year , with spc closing one of its plants and not buying as much fruit from the local orchards as previous years. This whole region is a fruit area. The job loses is going to have one huge arse follow effect
The question that needs to be asked , is where is the government to help out ? After all they did bail out the motoring industry and numerous other companies
It's one of the reasons why you should buy Australian made
