Prolotherapy

Thoughts? Opinions?

Little bit of background, I have a torn common extensor tendon (lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow), have had it for over 12 months now. 3x cortisone injections and physio/osteo have healed it from 12mm x 3mm to 7mm x 3mm. One specialist wanted to operate (only 80% success rate) and the latest one I've been to has begun prolotherapy, sounds promising.....

Anyone on here had it?

I've got a patient who has reported incredibly good results from it. When he stopped the gains also stopped very quickly, but while having it he said nothing else has ever worked as well.

Thanks for the reply mate. Are u able to tell me what their injury was and how long treatment was? And by gains stopped do u mean the healing process slowed or the injury reverted to it's previous severity?

Right rotator cuff, supraspinatus tendinopathy.
He meant that approximately 4 - 6 weeks after discontinuing the prolotherapy treatment, the symptoms returned.
Beyond his reports I have no knowledge of whether he was looking after the injury or mistreating it etc. Additionally I have virtually no other experience or knowledge of the treatment and its efficacy.

I was thinking about getting it for my knee injury but have since injured another area so that is on the back burner. Interested in this topic though.

For those interested, I had my second injections on Friday. Doc is happy with the progress, as is the physio. Strength is coming back and pain is subsiding. 3 more sessions are planned then we re-evaluate
