Anyone do swimming as a regular form of exercise? I've got no plans to do so, but if an indoor pool was conveniently available to me I'd probably include 2-3 sessions a week for general fitness.

It appeals to me as low stress on the joints, good conditioning, plus a bit of muscle work for the delts. What do all y'all think? It doesn't get much of a mention here.

I use to after ever training session (3 times a week)
Found it good relaxed cardio to loosen up after a big session,

Stopped when I renewed my gym membership as it's an extra $15 a week

Now I just jog to and from the gym.

i do it 2/3 times a week or so. its good to relax. only problem is the effectiveness of it reduces after a while.. or u really gotta push yourself to get a benefit... i generally go about 400m or so swimming, spa then sauna then long hot shower... more a relaxing thing

LOL @ the thought of swimming not stressing your joints. Talk to Dara Torres
She spent more time in the gym than in the pool in the lead up to Beijing. Pool was only for technique.

But personally I love it.

It can be pretty brutal on the shoulders and knees at insanely high volume. Eamon Sullivan is a good example
Still, lot kinda than running
