kidney stone

I got addmitted to the hospital last night after passing through a kidney stone which got lodged in there... 3 hours of excruciating pain at 1am in the morning..

I never want to go through it again.. Seems everything was fine again 3hours later... Dr says i shouldnt do anything for a day just in case it gets worse..

Anybody have this or know much about it?

My father in law just had trouble with a stone last 4 weeks and ended up bouncing in and out of hospital 3 times for pain relief and invetigations. Last weekend he was back so they took him to theater and put in a stent to keep to pipes open for a few weeks, I think they are hoping he will pass it, he thinks he may have on monday due to pissing blood again for a while and pain.
They are going to recheck in 4 weeks and remove the stent to see how things will go....no good then, they will blast it to smitherines with ultrasound shock waves and he will piss it out in a million pieces.
Apparently one of the most painful experiences available having kidney stones...sorry ceffo, hope it settles for you

yeah words could not describe how much pain i went through...

Thanks eje i hope your dad gets better... Once is enough for me but 4 times

Poor buggers! I cannot imagine how this would feel. Any answers on why you got them in the first place?
Hyjak I am cringing just reading your thread....ouch.

im hoping to find out in the next few weeks. ive just been back for more x rays and another urine test, ive been told by the x-ray dude that a few of the smaller stones appear to have disappeared ( i have 3 5mm stones remaining and some smaller specks in both kidneys) but i have to wait for my specialist to confirm this for me and he will also give me the urine test results, my stones turned out to be calcium stones and the urine test is to check if im still leaching calcium into my piss. as far as the cause is concerned ive seen 2 specialists and neither can give me a definite answer to the cause. one says it may be protein but when i got the first lot of stones i'd never even set foot in a gym or had a protein shake before so the other specialist agrees that its probably not protein. I have lowered my meat intake a bit though. Both of them basically said avoid alcohol, salt any bad stuff and drink shitloads of water which ive done. I'll know more in two weeks though.

thanks Shrek. Also ceffo get the doctor to x ray you, the first time i had them the doctor just told me to drink water and pass it then a few years later i get another stone now we have no idea if my current stones are old ones or new ones that have formed

happened to me too (once only touch wood) and hurt like a mofo.
I demanded fentanyl and got it :)

Do not want to go through that again and since drink lots of water and make sure my vit c is high enough.

yeah i have a feeling when i was on my keto diet i was taking in 400g protien a day but only drank 2L a day... the specialist said to come back for the urine results hopefully its all ok.

Protein has a more nitrogen in it than other types of foods do. Means your kindeys are handling a lot of urea and you really need to drink a lot more than 2 litres of water a day.
