so are they all equal in diameter?
is a 20kg plate made by Muscle Motion the same diameter as a 20kg plate by Ivanko or Eleiko etc?

For sanctioned comps - what plate is used as the largest for deadlifts?
20's or 25s?
are those 2 plates the same diameter but just thicker for the 25?

Most decent plates have the same diameter but their width with vary depending on how much you pay. Eg, muscle motion plates on the cheaper end of the scale are 55mm, ivankos on the top end are 25mm.

Most gyms stock 20s, 45 being the base american unit. Most powerlifting feds use 25s, 100 being the base unit (25 x 4 = 100)

Eleiko (and probably all other calibrated comp plates) are the following dimensions

Wt DIAMETER THICKNESS
25 kg 450 mm 25 mm
20 kg 450 mm 23 mm
15 kg 400 mm 21 mm
10 kg 325 mm 21 mm
5 kg 228 mm 21 mm
2,5 kg 190 mm 16 mm
1,25 kg 160 mm 12 mm
0,5 kg 134 mm 8 mm
0,25 kg 112 mm 6,5 mm

All the comp plates should be the diameter jonnie described.

I've bought 20s and 25s off cyber market and gym direct. for the cyber market ones, 25s are 43cm and 20s are around 40cm from memory.
the gym direct ones are 43cm diameter for both the 20s and 25s.

When you deadlift with these plates, it is like you are doing a 1" deficit deadlift compared to proper comp plates.
