I have a good friend who's suffered from hip problems for a while. Apparently it will develop into some sort of arthritis, despite her being only 23. She got some steroid injection recently. Sorry I could be more specific if needed (will ask her) - I'm not very good with these medical terms.
She already had to give up martial arts, and was told that she might have to give up dancing as well, which is her passion.
Now I'm no good at all these medical stuff nor experienced with injury rehabs, but I've had friends who have hip or back problems like this, and unless physios or specialists can fix it with some pills, injections or surgeries, they always get recommended to give up physical activities that they love. That does seem a little suss to me, and those friends always end up fat, weak and depressed. Not how you want to live.
In addition, I've read many stories about people who have fvcked backs or hips that pretty much get fixed by making them stronger through weight training.
I don't want to go recommend my friend take up weight training straight away, but I'd like to at least give her a place to start reading about it, so she may find a way to treat her own problems. I don't want her to just give up and do what the specialists say, without giving herself a fighting chance.
So, where do I start?
