7 Tips for Commuting to Work by Bike

With the raising Fuel price and public transport not all that great, it might be a good idea to put those car keys down and drag out the bike. You can have all the protest rallies you want " everyone don't buy fueld on this day" as the email that has been circulating for awhile now, but not buying fuel on one day does little to hit them where it hurts you really need a long last campaign to drive prices down.Rideing a bike will not only save your money but you'll also be helping the environment and getting some great excercise also.
When you first commute to work , all that traffic cars and buses around you might be a bit friegthening, you'll soon find there is many great bike paths around to get you away from the traffic. Commuting to Work by Bike is a great experience, good exercise, great views of nature and also a lot more peaceful and relaxing
When you first starting Commuting to Work by Bike depending on your fitness level your stamina might not be that high so you may only ride one or 2 days a weeks, in no time your stamina level will be built up so that you ride at least three or four times a week, but for now just start out slowly.
Tips for Commuting to Work by Bike

    • Showering.
I often hear people saying , that they don't ride to work as they don't want to get sweaty, alot of workplaces have showers if your workplace doesn't have showers pherhaps you could ask at neighbouring offices or find a gym close by to shower at. If you can't find a shower then there is always the option of a dutch shower spraying yourself down with deodarant, you could also by wet wipes and towel yourself down
  • Drop your clothes to work ahead of time
Changing into your work is another hassle, not wanting creased clothing after being scrunched up in a bag. One trick it neatly roll them up and place them in a waterproof plastic bag and place in your backpack or in your pannier. Another solution to the problem of taking work clothes is to plan ahead take your work clothes to work the day before or a supply of clothers to change into , then repeat the cycle each week
  • What Bike do i need? .
You don’t need a fancy expensive bike or fancy gear to commute. You don't spend alot on a bike but it is suggested you purchase a bike from a bike store rather thena department store like kmart. As you get more experienced you may which to upgrade your bike and equipment and Later, you can always spend more, a little at a time, but whatever you’ve got is good enough for now.
  • Be Prepared.
Alsways be prepared for any punctures or flats that might occur, nothing worse then being half way home and getting a puncutre. Carry with you a puncture kit, a spare tube or maybe 2 just to be safe then sorry, a portable bike pump, and the right tools like tyre levers to quickly change the punctured tube.
  • Be Safe.
