[Cycling] paired spoking?

I am wondering...what exactly is paired spoking and why is it good / bad?

Paired spoking is just a fancy, non-conventional spoking pattern used for marketing/bling factor rather than for any real benefits. The spokes are in pairs. vs the more evenly distributed conventional patterns.

There's been a lot of experimentation with spoke configuration in recent years and the trend seems to be swinging back towards conventional spoking.

The advantage the paired spoke wheels has is that its easier to loop the cable lock thru them and its easier to clean. The advantage the traditional wheels have, is if a spoke breaks, then you can keep riding.

So don't worry about it, either way.

The only thing I'd steer clear of is radial aligned rear drive side spokes.
