Dislocted finger/pulled back muscle/lung infection

Hi all,
I've had a horrible three weeks as the title suggests and have been unable to train at all. Now I have pulled a muscle in my back before but never to th severity of this. I have never dislocated a finger before, but I do manage to get multiple lung infections through winter no matter what I try to stay well. I can go to the physio to fix my back, I can't go to the orthopedics ward to fix my finger but there seems to be no place I can go to stop getting sick.

The first things that would be suggested I believe is fruit and veg... And plenty of it which I would reply I eat heaps!

The second would be do you drink and smoke to which I would say... NO!

Are you physically fit...yes very fit.

Multiv.... Yep

I am extremly germ concious aswell keeping my distance from sick people and shopping centres during winter yet I still manage to catch something. My questions are..

Does anyone else have this problem?
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to fix it?
After being sick in winter do you guys get that cough that hangs around for weeks? And do you train again while having that cough?

Be interested in trying any ideas as I want this problem to become history.

Thanks
Llew

You know a lot of lung infections are caused by environmental pathogens, breathing in fungi / mould spores , and some bacteria.. Do you do a lot of gardening, mulch etc? What do you do for a job?

As you have had multiple infections surely they did a culture, What did they find the cause was? What did your doctor suggest was the issue?

Maybe you are just run down, and need a break from all the execise?

Like most issues it needs to be addressed by a Doctor.

Dislocated finger and muscle strain are nothing compared to repeated lung infections. As trofius said your doc should really be looking into this for you, if they aren't doing a good job go to another and get all the information you can.

Yeah that was my first option. It goes as far as "I'm prescribing you antibiotics and the reason why your sick is its going around" Very frustrating! I have been to about 6 doctors in the last two years trying to find one that actually gives a damn. In short I generally get about 3 lung infections every winter and a spout of tonsillitis. Last year I managed to get the flu as well. My mother tells me I always was prone to lung infections growing up to go with my mild asthma.

My job is a sales rep for an agricultural parts company. Dust is one thing I'm exposed to but nothing else.

I'll see a new doctor again when I go for my flu shot... See how I go.

Thats good that your not him, you would have died from a lung infection out there. Have you been to a specialist?

No not yet, I'm not full of confidence when it comes to our health professionals these days. Its something I will have to do but I like a more natural approach to things first. I must be doing something wrong to be a healthy 22 year old one minute then catching every bug there is the next.

I doubt it is something you are doing, more the way you are. Ask for a referral , scratch that demand a referral. Unless you are training so hard that your immune system is dropping significantly there has to be a physiological reason that has not been diagnosed yet. Or you live in a mold infested room? You are 22 the days of dirty teenage rooms are not that long ago.

Haha, I won't argue with that because I'd loose. This sickness only happens during winter when there is less mold in my room though? :p

Hay fever has never really been a problem with me as far as I know but when I get sick I suffer from bad sinus, sore throat, sore eyes and a runny nose as standard. Maybe trialing an antihistamine would be worth it...

I'll head to the chemist... Were you finding your hay fever to turn into greater sickness?

Thanks SB
