How much sleep is enough?

Hi guys

Out of curiosity wondering how much sleep are you getting a night?

Ill start

Age: 25
Hours asleep: Around for 8 to 9 hours a day

Anywhere from 6-8 hours - normally around 6 though.

Wish I could have about 10-12 hours a night lol

8-9 hours

If I dont wake up with a raging boner, means something is wrong (eg not enough sleep) and my T levels arnt where they should be!

I need to be in bed by 9:30, any later and I don't feel tired- I wake up naturally around 6:30.

One thing I'm sure of; sleep is far more important than rest.

i always get 8hrs. i fidn it pretty hard to get to sleep. if i go to bed at 10 ill be asleep by 12 and awake at 8am

7-8 for me is normal and seems to work well.

Less than 7 for more than 1 night really f**ks me around.

I normally get 6, more on weekends, but I'm simply too busy to get in bed by 9pm to get my 8hrs when I wake up at 5 :(

I'm religiously in bed by 10pm but my 4 year old wakes me up at around 6am every morning, even on the weekends. I'm still dead to the world when he does too so I could probably do with more sleep.

So, what's that, 8hrs a night... And trust me, I sleep like the dead, no laying around watching the minutes tick by for me. Stress levels much better since my move to Brisbane so I pass out as soon as my head hits the pillow and as an added bonus my lifts are improving too.

Cheers,
Mike

I have sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for a couple of years.
I'm convinced it has added years to my life.

I get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep (like the above poster I sleep like the dead), but it can take me a while to get to sleep depending on stress levels.

I too take at least 2hrs to fall asleep, once asleep I sleep fine but usually wake up once or twice to water the horses, so I guess I get about 6hrs but usually sleep in on weekends to make up.

Im like you, but I can only get 6 hours max. I want to sleep as soon as I get home from work, but I dont to try and get some shut eye at a normal time but then its like I just had a pill and Im full of energy when Im supposed to be sleeping. One time I was on 4-5 hours sleep for a few days in a row. Driving home one night, head dropping and jerking back due to waking from microsleeps and I started to hallucinate. I thought I saw a yellow recycling bin in the middle of the f#cking road road!. After that I decided to pull over and rest for a bit.

Diesel, that CPAP stuff, is it prescription? Judging from wat youve said Im guessing it works pretty well? I need more sleep...

The CPAP is a machine that keeps your airway open - a google of sleep apnea (OSA) will give a better description of what I could give.

Get your GP to give you a referal to a sleep centre - it's an overnight stay and they monitor you sleep - the sleep specialist will speak to you about the results and prescribe a CPAP if required.

If I DONT use it it's very noticable - do yourself a favour and get tested.

i've been to an overnight sleep test. you'll feel like some kind of machine with all the wires hooked up to you but it is worth doing.

my feedback was my sleep was fine, they just recomended that I needed 9 - 10 hours to be optimum whereas others can function fine on 6 - 8. It gave me confidence and helped me relax which for the most part was all I needed.

in saying all of that, i've got heaps on at work at the moment and a tonne of stuff going through my head. Couldn't stop thinking about it and got a total of 3 hours last night. Feeling very ordinary this morning

I think id depends on what your doing tho I know if I only get 4-5 hrs sleep and have to go to work the next day I feel like shit.. but if i get 4-5 hrs sleep and am doing something I like the next day I feel fine :S

I'm usually good to go after 7 hours

Has anyone ever taken ZMA to help with getting to sleep?
