Anyone doing Billstarr?

I always thought that it's a misconception that Bill Starr's training idea's is the 5x5. I'd say it's more the whole body routine done 3 times per week based on the Heavy, Light, Medium principle.

And Bill always advocated working toward a final 5th top end set rather then 5 sets of 5 with the same weight. Although I've seen him use rep schemes involving 8's, 5's, triples, double's and singles. Also 3-5 or more sets of 3.

A typical routine I've seen him write is like this :

Heavy Day

Squat
Power Clean
Clean High Pull
Bench Press

Light Day

Squat
Good Morning
Press

Medium Day

Squat
Shrug
Incline Press

Yeah your right, it was pretty much 1x5 with ramping weight 5 rep 'warmups'

Which I think is one of the reasons why people stall quickly and hard on Stronglifts once they start getting the weight up. Its pretty hard to deadlift after your smashed from same weight across 5x5 max effort squats lol. Been there done that.
